What does an email deliverability check include?
A complete email deliverability audit verifies four critical DNS records that email servers use to validate your messages:
- SPF (Sender Policy Framework) — Specifies which mail servers are authorized to send email on behalf of your domain.
- DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) — A cryptographic signature that proves emails haven't been tampered with in transit.
- DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication) — Tells receiving mail servers what to do with emails that fail SPF or DKIM checks.
- MX Records — Define which servers can receive email for your domain.
How is the deliverability score calculated?
The score (0–100) is weighted across SPF (30 pts), DMARC (35 pts), MX (15 pts), and DKIM (20 pts). A score above 90 means excellent configuration; below 60 means there are issues that could significantly hurt your inbox placement rate.
